Dubh Linn

We picked up a little bit of Irish or Gaeilge here, Slainte (slan cha) is cheers, Slan is goodbye, and Pog mo hon is kiss my arse. All very important while travellkng here. Today we went back to Trinity College in Dublin, which has a very large campus and is the oldest university in Ireland.
It was lucky that we went and saw the book of Kells at the beginning of the trip because the line today went all around the square.
So instead of that we walked tithe back of the campus to the science building.
They had an exhibit there all about optical illisikns, with different art pieces by modern artists. It was all in the dark so it was hard to get good photos, but there was some really interesting stuff.
And I got this really great one of Sian.
After the exhibit we went back to Shop Street am finally got a photo with the Molly Malone Statue.
And then got some Thai food.
Then I got a few more letters done for the alphabet.

The Animal Fair

Today we decided to take a hike outside Dublin city center, to see Pheonix Park and go to the Dublin zoo. The Park is about as large as all of Dublin again and has lots of paths, bike trails and cricket pitches. We strolled through part but only managed to make it about halfway.
There is also a herd of deer that live in the park, but we weren't able to find them. We did see some more swans, ducks and herons though.
Next we went to the zoo which is a part of the park. It was pretty busy, and we were probably the only ones there without little children. It was fun though, me and Sian both love animals, she's studying biology, while I on the other hand just like to draw them. But I got some cute photos of some of the different zoo animals we saw.
Us at the zoo..
And a few more photos from the long walk back.

Back to Dublin

Soooo today we were up much earlier than we should have been to catch a bus from Galway back to Dublin for the rest of our trip. We wanted to be careful since Monday was a bank holiday here, and also the last day of the Galway races was on Sunday. So we were worried there would be a lot of people leaving the same day. But we got back to Dublin after a fairly long bus ride, and found our way back to the hostel.
Turns out everybody was too drunk anyways to get up early and take a bus back home so we had plenty of time to sit in the hostel lounge and draw until we could check in. We didn't do much else today. We decided to get a little shopping in for the family and so spent most of the afternoon doing that.
We spent the rest of the day reacquainting ourselves with Dublin.

And trying to save Bono and the rest of U2 from perishing.
Then we decided to eat dinner in the park because the weather was really nice out and the sun was actually shining. And feeding ducks is our favorite pastime.
Aren't they cute?
We decided we might have spent slightly too much time observing waterfowl this trip.. Oh and Dublin can be a very photogenic city, especially when it's actually sunny out.

Lazy Days

We had quite the lazy day today and so Katie didn't take many photos. It was really nice out though today and the sun was actually hot. I think it only rained once for a couple minutes and I've found that any amount of sunshine, no matter how small, brings people flocking to the park with their ice cream. We had to join them of course and so we spent an hour or two in Eyre park just people watching.

The sunshine also brings out the street performers and we had been watching a young man perform on his guitar when a drunk lady came up and took his microphone and started performing herself. I have to hand it to the kid, he took it in stride. He didn't decide to pack up until another drunk guy came along and started to fight over the microphone with the drunk lady. But he was so nice about it that we all clapped for him as he was leaving and a guy gave him ten euros for his troubles.

We also saw the greyhound racing stadium. It looked a little empty so I guess the horse races were taking all the attention away from it.
Other than that though we didn't really do much. It was a relaxing day to get ourselves ready to travel again to Dublin tomorrow. At least this will be the last time that we have to pack our things before we go home. Also, more letters!
